Trump appoints new head of National Intelligence William Pultes

United States President Donald Trump announced the appointment of William “Bill” Pultes as head of the National Intelligence Director, temporarily entrusting the direction of one of the most important security and intelligence institutions in the US.
The news was made public by Trump itself via the social network Truth, where it stressed that Pulte will take the lead in the American intelligence community, while at the same time it will continue to exercise the office of the Federal Agency for the Finance of Housing (FHFA), as well as to remain at the helm of the Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac, the Periscope broadcast.
The American president praised Pulta's experience in managing the housing financing sector and monitoring financial markets, arguing that he has managed responsibilities worth more than $10 trillion through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Pulte's appointment comes after Tulsi Gabbard's decision to leave the post of Director of National Intelligence.
Gabbard had announced in May that he would leave his post in late June, citing her husband's state of health as the main reason for his resignation.
The National Intelligence Directorate is responsible for co-ordinating the work of 18 American intelligence agencies, including CIA and NSA, playing a key role in gathering, analyzing and distributing information related to US national security.
However, Pultes' appointment has also attracted attention to the fact that he has no direct experience in the field of national intelligence or security.
Despite that, Trump has chosen to trust him with the institution's provisional direction in a period considered challenging for American strategic interests.
His appointment comes at a time when the US is facing numerous challenges in the international arena, including geopolitical tensions, cyber threats and complex global security issues, making the role of the Director of National Intelligence one of the most important positions in the American administration.
