The scandalous statement by Valon Behram: If I knew that Jaka and Shaqiri would celebrate with eagles, I would stop them.

Valon Behram was one of four players of Albanian descent in the Swiss nationals who defeated Serbia in the World in 2018.
The World held in Russia, Switzerland, and Serbia were cast into Group E, along with Brazil and Costa Rica.
After drawing with Brazil on the opening lap, Switzerland faced Serbia in the second lap.
The match began as no worse, with Serbs marking first, and closing the first part in the upper hand.
However, Switzerland and its Albanians did not give up and eventually managed to win 2-1, with the goals of Granit Jaka and Gerdan Shaqiri.
More than victory, a big stir made the celebrations of the two Albanians, Jaka and Shaqiri. The two celebrated with eagles, with Serbs becoming overly nervous and with a complaint in FIFA, managed to condemn two “Albanians from Switzerland. They were fined, said to be over 20,000 Swiss francs each.
And of this June 22, 2018, Valon Behram once again spoke.
Behrami, already retired from active football, has issued a “scandalous statement”, saying that if he knew that the Albanian pair would celebrate in that way, he would stop.
He's a 2026 World analyst in “RSI Sports”, where it issued this statement.
If I had known that they would celebrate with an eagle's symbol in Russia 2018, I would have done something to prevent. I knew nothing. We had just scored goals, we ran and everything happened there. I was the only one who didn't make the eagle”, he said at first.
When we returned to the dressing rooms, we still didn't understand what had really happened, then we were informed that the media had caused a storm, and that's where problems” started, he added.
Valon Behram played 83 matches with the Swiss national until he scored two goals.
Behram, born in Mitrovica, is currently assistant to the Utford Sports Director in England.
The 41-year-old retired from active football in 2022, with his last club Brescia.
During his career, Behram had also played Lugano, Genoan, Hellas Verona, Lazio, West Hamin, Fiorentine, Naples, Hamburg, Watford, Wooden, Zion, and the end of Brescia. /Periscope/
