The incident in Lipjan Magur, Shatroll: Police Increase Patrols

Shatroli claims Kosovo police have increased presence in the Magura area to prevent possible incidents. Among other things, he said there is no evidence of similar previous conflicts among those involved.

“We usually make regular patrols across the area in general our own, but especially in such cases wherever they happen, we add activities to that part, patrols, to ensure that we don't get this thing repeated to us... No, the Kosovo Police have no information of any such nature incident among these people that happened before, said Shatroli for Kosovapress, broadcast Periscope.

As for the Ashkali community family involved in the case, he said that, according to police information, they currently do not live in Kosovo, while stressing that Kosovo police will implement any decision that will reveal justice organs and continue to ensure the safety of citizens.

“The destruction of the Ashkali community, they do not currently live, according to information we have, do not currently live in Kosovo. But after home arrest, the court's decision on what decision it will make remains. Then, normally, the court ruling will be implemented and the Kosovo Police are here to provide security to each citizen and we will try to be more vigilant in that area, in that area. But no one can guarantee for anyone if he can come back or not, he can't go back, although according to my information, they also have their property there. It remains in the future. However, Kosovo police will still respond to cases of security, whatever nature citizens need”, Shatroll indicated.

Regarding the police response, Commander Shatroll said Kosovo Police have reported on the case at the 24 June evening.

On the 24th day of the sixth month, 2026 around 18:30, the Lipjan Police Station has accepted a call for a beat in progress and patrols are immediately headed towards the site of the event, where they have earlier tried, reached the scene in the village of Magure. There they encountered a large crowd of people, but as soon as the patrols arrived, the beating was already interrupted. And, meanwhile, during operational and investigative works, they have found that they are involved in beatings of two communities -- the Ashkali and Albanian community”, Shatroll said.

He confirmed that after the investigation was conducted, 10 persons were detained and submitted to the Constitutional Court.

“There were 10 detained persons who were brought before the court and held hearings regarding the case in question. And, in the end, the court has decided that all detainees will go into house arrest, which will continue to remain under house arrest. Both groups”, he indicated.

Shatroll also spoke of the protest held before the Lipjan Court, stressing that no incidents were recorded and that police had taken additional measures to ensure security.

Five days ago in the village of Magure in Lipjan, a group of people in the Ashkali community attacked Skender Sahin in front of his home, as well as KLA war veteran Bekim Meta.

The court in Lipjan decided on house arrest measures for the KLA veteran and disabled war, Bekim Meta and for Skender Sahin, parties involved in the incident. /Periscope
