Revolution at the World Cup: Balls will have a motion sensor and a battery filled before the match

Official balls that will be used at the 2026 World Cup in football, to be held in the US, Canada and Mexico, will be equipped with a modern motion sensor.
This sensor will collect data and send it directly to the VAR room, and it's interesting that the balls will have to be filled with batteries before each match, writes the Neweek magazine, referring to information from Addas, which produced the balls for this tournament.
The new “Topi contains an inertial motion chip of 500 herc (Hz), which collects and sends data to the VAR system in real time”, the company said.
The report stresses that integrated sensors will monitor any contact with the ball. This will help many judges when they make decisions about possible off-game positions, handball and other suspicious situations in the field, Telegrafi reports, broadcast Periscope.
According to Adida representatives, the cannons will be filled at special charge stations. It takes about 90 minutes to fully fill the battery to the ball, after which it can be used actively for about six hours, reports TASS.
An unidentified Adida spokesman assured the public and fans, claiming the battery's life expectancy is absolutely secure and that there is no way there is a need to replace the ball during the match because of the empty battery.
Remember, the World Championship, in which 48 national teams will compete for the first time in history, begins on June 11th and last until 19th. /Periscope
