PDK leadership discusses election outcome, warns domestic elections this year

The headship of the Democratic Party of Kosovo has held today the next meeting, in which the election outcome and future political and organisational PDK steps are discussed.
The leadership estimated that the lowest turnout in the election process, compared to past cycles of approximately 200,000 voters, constitutes a serious signal reflecting citizens' fatigue from successive political crises, major social polarisation and the frustration accumulated over recent years.
The impact of general political and economic circumstances on the election outcome was also discussed at this meeting. Financial measures and subsidies distributed by the government on the eve of the elections were estimated to have influenced the perception of a part of the opposition electorate that the election outcome was predetermined, affecting their discouragement to appear at the polls.
Despite these circumstances, Krysia estimated that the PDK remains the largest opposition subject, maintaining the percentage of political representation, with the possibility of slightly increasing the number of MPs in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.
Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Bedri Hamza stressed that during the last period, The PDK has faced numerous successive election processes, not having the space and time needed for reshuffle and consolidation of its structures.
At this meeting, Headship also discussed future processes, including domestic party elections, which will be open, fair and inclusive, aimed at creating space for new ideas, new energy and greater involvement of new generations in PDK leadership structures.
The chairmanship discussed the possibility that the domestic election process will begin in September 2026.
Similarly, the importance of completing the court process in The Hague was renewed against former PDK and their fellow fighters as a process of particular importance for freedom, independence and the future of Kosovo.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo remains committed to reflecting on any lesson learned from the election process and to continue working in the service of citizens and state interest of the Republic of Kosovo.
