Modric achieves historic 200 matches with Croatia

Luka Modric will play his 200th match with Croatia's national today in confronting Panama at the 2026 World Cup.

At 40 years of age, while in September it will be 41 years old, Croatian midfielder continues to write stories and remains one of the world's largest football figures.

With this jubilee presentation, Modriʹ becomes one of the most international match players in history. Among the active footballers at the World Cup, only Lionel Messi and Cristian Ronaldo have more presentations with their nationals.

Half of those 200 Modrich games were played under coach Zlatko Dalih.

An extraordinary career with Croatian nationals

His trip with the Croatian fanele began on 1 March 2006 in a friendly match against Argentina. Since then, he has participated in five European Championships and five World Cups, ranking among a small group of players who have achieved this success.

Modric debuted in the 2006 World Cup, just like Messy and Ronaldo.

However, unlike his two great rivals, he played in five editions, since Croatia failed to qualify for the 2010 World in South Africa.

His career with nationals is filled with successes, representing second place in the 2018 World Cup and third place in the 2022 edition, Telegraph reports, broadcast Periscope.

Now he aims to lead Croatia once again to the biggest football scene.

Croatia's legend, Real Madrid record

Modrich's future remains unclear. There is no confirmation whether this will be his last World Cup or whether he will continue his career after the tournament. Regardless of age, however, he continues to testify that he still has the quality and energy to compete at the highest level.

In addition to achievements with the nationals, Modric holds a historical record at Real Madrid. With 28 trophies won, he is the most decorated football player in the history of the Madrile Club, leaving behind names such as Dani Carvaal and Nacho Fernández.

His trophies are also included numerous titles with Dinamo Zagreb, while in 2018 he won the Golden Ball, interrupting the multi-year reign of Mess and Ronaldo.

In 200 matches with Croatia, Luka Modriić has built a legacy that will remain forever in football history. Today, he celebrates another historic moment in his legendary career. /Periscope
