(2 hours ago)Following recent developments in the Independent Media Commission, the Kosovo Council of Written Media has reacted sharply.
In an urgent online decision-making, members of this council have strongly condemned the announcement of KPM Deputy Chairman Drita Morina, who, without any support in the KPM Ethics Code, according to the council, has warned the closure of the “Debat Plus” show at RTV Dukajini.
“As media professionals, we judge that independent bodies should be very cautious in dealing with SLAPP-type complaints to the media, especially when they are exercised by political party exhibits. ”, said in the KMF statement.
This council has called on KPM to maintain independence and judge correctly, in line with KPM Ethics Code standards.
KMKK has also called on KPM members to refrain from reckless and groundless statements on the quality of reporting in the country's media.
“Such warning and groundless statements pose direct pressure on freedom of expression and media freedom. ”, said in statement.
In the end, KMK has called on other KPM members to distance themselves publicly from such initiatives, which seriously influence media freedom in the country.
