Germany: Kosovar sentenced to life in prison, wanted to kill his former girlfriend by car

A 28-year-old of descent from Kosovo, 28 May, has been sentenced to life in prison in a court in Germany's Waren (Muriz).
The sentence came after he was convicted of attempted the murder of his ex-girlfriend.
However, the defendant has appealed the verdict, and that has been confirmed by the court's spokesman after the media interest “Nordkurier”.
And that means the Federal Court of Justice will have to reconsider the verdict.
He wanted to kill his ex-girlfriend in the car.
German media “Nord Kurier” reported that the defendant, the 28-year-old German citizen who in Germany had arrived at the age of 2 with his family, had attempted to kill his former girlfriend by driving her car in the opposite direction of the movement.
The Neubrandenburg Regional Court had sentenced the 28-year-old defendant to life imprisonment several days ago. The criminal chamber, headed by Judge Daniela Lieschke, found the husband guilty of attempted murder and serious and dangerous bodily damage. In addition, the court condemned him for deliberate intervention, especially dangerous in road traffic.
“28-year-old, who had come to Germany from Kosovo with his family at the age of two, had deliberately driven his car into traffic across from Friedri ch-Wilhelm-Raiffeisen-Strase east of Warren (Muriz) on January 23rd 2025, according to the court. There it is said he had noticed a 44-year-old woman in her car, with whom she had a conflict-filled relationship. In the preceding weeks, he had already offended his wife on her text messages and had threatened her with death. He had already mentioned a car as a means to achieve a” goal, German media said.
The defendant was silent on charges
The court considered the defendant's guilt proven after receiving evidence in which five experts were heard, among others.
The defendant had been silent on charges during the entire trial and, according to the judge, only expressed regret at the family of the damaged party in his last words.
According to the court, she has been in a constant vegetative since the accident, suffering from what seems to be an irreversible brain damage. /Periscope/
