U.S. attacks about 20 targets in Iran, Tehran targets US bases in the region

The United States said it has carried out a wave of revenge attacks on Iran, attacking almost 20 military targets after Washington blamed Tehran for the collapse of the military helicopter, Apache and a series of attacks on American forces and commercial ships in the region. Meanwhile, Iran said it has fired missiles and fears towards US military bases in the region.
In the late hours of June 9th, the US Army Central Command (CENTCOM) said an American fighter plane hit Iran's air defence systems, land control stations and radar surveillance buildings near the Hormuz Strait, in what it described as “proportional response” ordered by US President Donald Trump.
On June 9th, Trump said the Iranians had crashed the US Army's Apache-type helicopter, which was patrolling the Hormuz Strait, warning that the US would respond.
The two crashed helicopter pilots were rescued from the US Army.
A senior US official told reporters that close to 20 limits within Iran were attacked during the operation, which is now over.
The American attacks sparked Iran's response, which fired several rockets and fears, but the US official said the “almost all of Iran's” missiles launched were blocked.
The official added that Washington has not accepted any reports of American casualties or damage to American buildings, though he added that the assessment in this direction is continuing.
CENTCOM said US forces remain on alert and are prepared to respond to any new attacks.
Iran has not yet publicly provided details of the damage caused by the attacks.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard, meanwhile, said on June 10th that it fired rockets and threatened an American military base in Jordan, and targeted other US-related targets across the Persian Gulf as a sign of retaliation for American attacks on military targets near the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian media reported that the attacks targeted the American Al Azrah base in Jordan, as well as targets in Kuwait and Bahrain.
Revolutionary Guard claimed it has hit buildings, including a hangar for planes and a command centre, and warned the US that it will face response “devastating” if it carries out other attacks.
This exchange of attacks marks one of the most serious escalations since Washington and Tehran agreed on a ceasefire in April, after the US and Israel launched joint attacks on Iran in late February. / REL
