Americans discovered the remarkable tunnel through which drugs were transported from Mexico

American authorities have discovered a sophisticated tunnel used for smuggling drugs from Mexico to the United States. The tunnel, built under the border between the two countries, had secret exits inside a store in American territory.
According to investigators, the tunnel was equipped with enlightenment, ventilation, and other systems that facilitate the transport of large quantities of narcotics without authorities noticing.
Border patrol agents and federal investigators managed to uncover the underground corridor during a joint operation against drug trafficking. The tunnel stretched from the Mexican city of Tijuana to the American side of the border, writes foxnews.
Images published by authorities show that it can walk freely through the tunnel, while its exit to the US had been camouflaged to make it look like a normal part of a trade object.
US officials stressed that such tunnels constitute one of the most advanced methods drug cartels use to bypass border controls. Similar tunnels, some hundreds of meters long and equipped with small railways, electricity, and ventilation systems, have been discovered in the past.
Investigations into the case are under way, and authorities are trying to identify persons responsible for the construction and use of the tunnel.
