State in action: Two persons being arrested who stole 50,000 euros from 150 people via SMS

According to a joint communiqué of the Constitutional Prosecutor of Kosovo and the Police, a car, several phones, and are looking for two more people on the run.

Prosecutor and police say the suspects by means of the fake SMS allegedly on behalf of banks have been robbed before 150 people. It was worth 50,000 euros so far.

“The Founding Procuror in Pristina in close co-ordination and co-ordination with the Kosovo Police . . Kibernetic Crimes Unit under the NJHP have implemented 3 control orders at various locations, which have resulted in the ban of 2 persons, due to suspicion of carrying out the criminal act Deception by Article 323. Also identified on this issue are 2 other people, but the same are on the run”, said the communique.

“According to data provided to this stage, there is doubt that suspects in co-operation and co-ordination of action between themselves, from December 2025 onward, through false presentation of facts and with the intention of illegally benefiting property for themselves or the other person, urge the injured to act at the expense of their property, so that those who had been injured after accepting SMS messages had received from the commercial banks NLB Banka, Teb Banka, Raiffes Bank, both the Bank and other content <1> are discovered in your suspicious activity. Please identify to continue using the service...”, from which SMS was also accepted a special link, depending on the bank that the affected had accounts and after clicking on these links, the damaged were opened to a website that was required to insert bank data, and then the same ones were attracted to their bank accounts from the indictees.

The damage value is predicted that “will be even greater”.

The number of those injured in the matter, only in the Pristina region, totals 150 people, while the damage value amounts to $50,000 (five thousand Euro), while we are waiting for the presentation of other injuries, from other regions, with the number of those affected, as well as the value of damage will be still greater than”, is said in the communique.

The state prosecutor will continue to address cases of this nature with priority, said in the communiqué. Additional actions will reportedly be taken with the aim of identifying other potential suspects regarding the case.
