Trump repeats criticism against NATO: If a global conflict did not help us

President Donald Trump has voiced doubts about the willingness of NATO allies to help the United States in the event of a global conflict with a great power.
In an interview, Trump said that “when we needed NATO, they were not there for us” and added that he did not believe the Allies would stand by the US in a larger military conflict.
He also said that NATO countries' response to operations in Iran has shown a lack of willingness to support Washington, stressing that the White House has drawn the appropriate “conclusions from this situation.
Trump has repeatedly made such statements, mainly on the role and responsibilities of the NATO alliance.
