Close “Vita”, Limaj: Instead of helping him, the government has put him under constant pressure

Social Democrat Initiative Chairman Fatmir Limaj has reacted after the provisional closure of the milk station “Vita”, naming this development a serious blow to local production, farmers and the Kosovo economy.
According to Limaj, the hot tub was not only one company, but, according to him, one of the most successful examples of local production, which for more than two decades has supported thousands of farmers, has employed hundreds of citizens and proved that quality and success can be produced in Kosovo, Periscope broadcasts.
When a producer of this level closes, he does not lose just one business. They hit farmers, lose jobs, weaken the economy and pave the way for import products”, wrote Limaj on Facebook.
He has criticised the government for approaching the private sector, praising that businesses have been treated as opponents and not as economic development partners.
Instead of helping the local producer, the government has put it under constant pressure. Businesses need no fear, no unnecessary pressures and penalties. Inspectorates must enforce the law, not be used to harm those who invest, produce, and operate thousands of families”, he stated.
Limaj has stressed that a government aimed at economic development should create conditions for the growth of local production, rather than for the closure of factories.
A government that is serious about economic development does not shut down factories. It creates conditions for them to grow, employ more people and be more competitive”, he said.
In his reaction, Limaj has reiterated that he will continue to support local producers, farmers and businesses that invest in Kosovo.
Kosovo is not strengthened by closing its producers. It is strengthened by protecting local production, farmer, worker and any business that believes and invests in Kosovo”, Limaj has finished.
