Rubio: Military Operation Launched in February Against Iran

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has declared that he has completed the military operation launched in February against Iran, signaling a change in Washington's approach towards ensuring free movement in Hormuz Strait.
During a statement from the White House, Rubio said the phase of the operation called “Epic Fury” is closed.
“Operation is complete... we are finished with that phase”, he said, adding that attention has already focused on a new initiative called “Project Freedom”, writes Can.
According to him, this initiative aims to ensure the safe transition of commercial ships to one of the world's most important maritime corridors, through which a large portion of the global power supply passes.
The White House announced Congress last week that anti-Iranial hostilities are “completed”, respecting the 60-day deadline requiring formal authorisation by lawmakers for continuing military operations.
However, US President Donald Trump has not ruled out the possibility of relaunching air attacks in case negotiations with Iran fail or the current ceasefire is violated.
At the same time, key issues related to Iran's nuclear programme -- including high-level uranium reserves -- are expected to be addressed through diplomatic negotiations.
Rubio stressed that any possible agreement must address not only uranium enrichment but also the fate of existing materials, naming it a central issue for international security.
