(2 months ago)The Kosovo Prosecutors' Association has expressed deep concern and has strongly condemned the threat made to the prosecutor of the Constitutional Prosecutorship in Mitrovica, Muharrem Prekazi, during his exercise of official office at the court hearing.
In a response, this association has said that any form of threats, pressure or investigation against prosecutors because of their constitutional and legal exercise of office presents serious violations of the prosecutorial system's independence and direct assault on rule of law.
The Kosovo Prosecutors' Association considers prosecutors' security and integrity to be essential elements for the independent and efficient functioning of the justice system, so such cases should be handled with full priority and seriousness by competent institutions.”, it says in response.
Also, this association has expressed full professional and institutional support for Prosecutor Prekazi, as well as for all prosecutors of the Republic of Kosovo who, according to her, continue to exercise their duty with professionalism, integrity and dedication despite the pressures and challenges they face.
The State Prosecutor's Office has also condemned this threat. /Periscope
