(a month ago)Pope Leon has declared that his mission is to preach peace to the world as he responded to American President Donald Trump's attacks.
In his recent comments to the Pope, Trump suggested that he believed it was okay for Iran to have a nuclear weapon, that after the Pope has opposed the US and Israeli war against Iran, by what means this stance has angered Trump, causing the US president to attack repeatedly.
Earlier Tuesday, Pope Leo said he would continue calling for peace despite criticism.
The church's “mission is to preach the Gospel, preach peace”, he said.
The last exchange comes as Secretary of State Marco Rubio heads to the Vatican for a two-day visit this week.
On Tuesday prior to his visit, Rubio denied he would go to Italy to ease tensions between Trump and Vaticani.
It's a trip we've planned since, and we've obviously had some things that happened”, he said, adding that there was “too much to talk to Vatican”.
