June 7th elections: 18 parties confirm turnout, 1 coalition formed

When only a day's deadline is left for political parties to announce participation in elections or non-participation and the declaration of coalitions, some of the political parties have committed these obligations to the Central Election Commission.

CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has said about RTK that by now ( Wednesday, May 6, 2026, 12:00) The CEC has accepted the announcement of participation in elections by 18 political parties; non-participation by another 4 and the formation of 1 coalition consisting of 2 political parties.

The “is continuing periods for political parties registered in the Republic of Kosovo to announce the CEC for: participation or non-participation in elections and forming coalitions. This period started on 1 May and will end 7 May. So far (April 6, 2026, 12:00) The CEC has accepted the announcement of participation in elections by 18 political parties, non-participation by 4 political parties and 1 coalition consisting of 2 political parties”, Elez said.

Furthermore, according to him, these “obligations apply only to 53 political parties currently part of the census of political parties registered in the Republic of Kosovo”.

According to Elez, the political parties that have until this time announced participation in the elections are: Social Democrat Party; Kosovaki Nevi Romani Party; Ashkali Social Democrat Party; Za Slobodu Pravd of Opstanak; Srpska List? Yenilikci Türrk Hareket Partis; Democratic League of Kosovo; Word; Kosovo Roma Progressive Movement; The United Roma Party of Kosovo ? PRIBK; Social Democratska Unija; Jedinstvena Goranska Partija; Democratic Kosovo Türrk Partis; Alliance for the Future of Kosovo; Nova Democraticska Stranka; Egyptian Liberal Party; The New Democratic Initiative of Kosovo; and Kosovski Savez.

Meanwhile, according to him, political parties that have so far announced no participation in elections are: Democratic Unity Party; National Ball of Kosovo; The Vatra Civic Movement; and the Union for Anamorawa Change.

According to CEC data, 6 days from opening the deadline for coalition statements, the CEC has only accepted announcement of coalition formation by two Bosniak parties. This is Democraticska Stranka Bošnjaka and Democraticska Stranka Vatan, who have presented to the CEC the coalition under the name of “Calicija VAKAT”.

According to the CEC, the announcement by registered political parties of participation or non-participation in the elections and forming coalitions is another process from the application for certified new political subjects and handing over the candidate list for MPs.

According to Elez, the deadline for application for the certificate of new political subjects started on 2 May and will be completed 10 May.

“Starting on May 2nd and until May 10th, the new political subjects (coalialations, civic initiatives and independent candidates) must hand over to the CEC, to the Bureau for Recording, Certificate and Financial Control, the certificate application for participation in early elections for the Kosovo Assembly, respectively. Under the Law for General Elections, the political party is considered automatically certified, so this process will only apply to new political subjects, which in this case are coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates”, Elez said.

Meanwhile, but according to him, the surrender of the candidate list for deputies from political subjects started on May 2nd and will end on May 12th 2026.

“The CEC has set an 11-day deadline -- from 2 May to 10 May 2026 -- for political subjects (political parties, coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates) to hand over the list with the names of MPs to be certified to participate in the June 7th snap elections. Delivering the list with the names of candidates for MPs should be done through electronic platforms, and the procedure is similar to the last elections held in December of last year”, Elesi said.
