Journalists subjected to power attacks, Haxhiu on World Press Freedom Day: Accurate information is a pillar of democracy

Kosovo President Albulen Haxhiu's task officer, Albulen, has felt the need to issue a communique on World Press Freedom Day, to show how journalists should work with integrity to keep our public space accurate and fair”.

Kosovo this year marked progress in media freedom, according to the World Reporters Without Borders Press Freedom Index, ranking 84th place 15 places better than last year.
Last year, the country had marked the largest regress in the organisation's media freedom index Reporters Without Borders, ranking 99th in the world from 180 states.
According to Reporters Without Borders' 2026 report, even though the media managed to hold politicians accountable, journalists “continue to be subject to political attacks”.
