IKKPK: 17 fruit cases confirmed in Kosovo, all unexplored

The Kosovo National Institute of Public Health has reported that 17 measurable cases in Kosovo have been confirmed from 16 April to 20 May 2026.
According to data published by IKKPK, the largest number of cases have been recorded in Ferizaj on six occasions, followed by Pristina on four occasions and the Kacanic on three occasions. In one case it was also reported in Lipjan, Fushe Kosovo, Gjilan and Entrance.
The institute points out that all confirmed cases have been to individuals with the MMR vaccine against measles, spins and rubella.
All confirmed cases are uncontaminated with the MMR vaccine and received hospital treatment, which testifies to the serious potential of possible complications that could cause mesh”, says the report.
The IKPK has urgently urged parents to check children's vaccination folders and to perform vaccines in family medicine centres.
Taking into account the highly contagious nature of measles and the risk of further spread, the IKPK urgently urges parents to check their children's vaccination card”, it further says.
The institute has also recommended avoiding contact with people who show symptoms such as high fever, frying on skin, cough or blood, while people with suspicious symptoms should appear immediately in health institutions.
According to the IKKPK, concrete measures are being implemented on the ground to manage the situation, including identifying unexcused children, contacting parents and engagement of mobile vaccine teams, especially in less-invention areas.
