Hashim Thaci from custody: World's most pro-American Kosovo, but sanctioned by US and EU

Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has declared that Kosovo is in a paradoxical political and international situation, facing internal social divisions and isolation by Western allies.
According to him, the country is not walking in the direction that citizens want.
Kosovo from within as society and from abroad isolated from the West. It's not what we want to see”, Thaci said.
He has also shown a conversation with an international diplomat at the detention centre who, according to him, had named Kosovo a unique “trast” in Europe.
“You will be an example for the study”, a friend of international diplomat who asked me: how is it that Kosovo citizens are the most pro-American and pro-European in Europe, while their state is sanctioned by the US and the EU?”, Thaci has confessed to Kanal 10, Periscopi broadcast.
According to him, the diplomat had stressed that such a phenomenon has not been seen in Europe in recent decades.
Thaci has also recalled a conversation with former American family man Richard Holbrooke during the summer of 1999 in Pristina, following his meetings with various representatives of Kosovo society.
And tell me why people seem so surprised, unprepared and confused with the freedom won?
Thaci has said that he was unable to give his full answer at that time because of the circumstances of the conversation.
He later explained to him that one of the main reasons was the lack of historical experience with freedom.
The main reason is that we've never lived as a people we've never lived free... we've been living in fear, possessed, but protesting... we've achieved physical freedom, but not psychological freedom”, Thaci said.
He has added that Kosovo is going through a period of adaptation with the new reality, after decades of oppression, stressing that “will not have a setback”.
