Present-day deadline for declaring participation in elections and forming coalitions

Today, the deadline for political parties registered in the Republic of Kosovo is completed to announce the Central Election Commission for participating or not participating in early elections, as well as for the declaration of pre-election coalitions.
CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi told Clankosova.tv, has indicated that this obligation applies to a total of 53 political parties currently registered and functional in the country.
All political parties registered in Kosovo are obliged to report the CEC on a 7-day deadline -- from May 1st to May 7th -- for participation or non-parting in early elections for the Kosovo Assembly. This obligation applies only to 53 political parties currently part of the Kosovo political party register, so not to political subjects who want to participate in the elections as civic initiatives or independent candidates”, Elesi reported.
Elez stressed that by May 7th, parties have deadlines to report the CEC if they want to participate in the elections through the coalition.
“According to the Law for General Elections, political parties which are registered in the CEC and who want to participate in early elections through the coalition should report the CEC, respectively, the Office for Recording, Certificate and Financial Control of Political Subjects that they want to participate in these elections in this way. The deadline for making this announcement is May 7th, 2026. The coalition can be built by at least two political parties, and by law, the political party cannot withdraw from the coalition once it is certified until the outcome of the elections is certified by the CEC. Also, the political party, which is a coalition member, cannot participate as a member in another coalition, or even as a special party in the same elections”, he said.
