Commissioner Kos: There can be security in Europe without Kosovo

EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos said Kosovo is part of a bigger picture and that there can be security in Europe without it.
At a joint media conference with incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti, she said they have talked about the enlargement process.
You are today at a critical moment. First, you're ahead of the election. The second is that, when we have talked today about the enlargement process from a broader perspective, what we are experiencing today in the enlargement process is progress and, for the first time after the last expansion in 2013 with Croatia, there are real prospects that will in the coming years, we will have new member states. This membership process has also been put forward because of the security aspect. And when we discussed Kosovo's role in this, there can be no security in Europe without Kosovo. Kosovo is an integral part of a larger picture, the reason why enlargement today is much more than just enlargement. It's about security care in Europe, being together, with regional co-operation that you mentioned, and certainly even through integration into the European Union”, she said.
Therefore, Kos said one of its biggest tasks is to take care of a much more powerful “integration of Kosovo” into the European Union. /Periscope
