Coalitions or Single Races? CEC sets deadline for political parties

All political parties currently registered in Kosovo are obliged by the Central Election Commission to report this institution for participation or non-participation in early elections for the Kosovo Assembly, which will be held on 7 June 2026.
Political parties are obliged to announce the CEC if they want to participate in these elections through the coalition.
CEC spokesman Valmir Elez has explained to Kosova Preris that the announcement of participation or non-participation in the elections is due only to 53 political parties currently registered and active in Kosovo.
Similarly, Elez indicated that by May 7th, Kosovo political parties have deadlines to announce the CEC if they want to participate in the election through the coalition. He recalled that the law has made some adjustments that for the rights and obligations of political parties when they enter the coalition.
In the February 2025 regular parliamentary elections, 28 political subjects participated, out of which 20 political parties, 5 coalitions, 2 civic initiatives and 1 independent candidate.
Meanwhile, in early parliamentary elections held in late December, 24 political subjects competed, out of which 18 political parties 3 coalitions; 2 civic initiatives and 1 independent candidate.
