Americans seized three tonnes of cocaine worth about 40m euros

The U.S. Coast Guard has announced today that it has seized three suspected drug smuggling vessels carrying cocaine to the Caribbean Sea near Colombia, and has seized narcotics worth nearly $4.8m (39.2m euros).
The operation was conducted on May 8 - some 150 miles [1 145 km] from the Colombian city of Cartagena, reports the Watchtower Coastal Report.
Officials said the ships transported 2,760kg of cocaine.
This selection represents 2.3 million potentially lethal doses of cocaine that will not reach American roads”, the statement said.
The Coast Guard announced that the ship “Tahoma” has launched two smaller vessels and a helicopter team to intercept all three ships simultaneously.
One of the alleged smuggling ships has reportedly attempted to flee and ignored orders for detention.
Next, the Coastal Watchers used warning measures, including sniper shootings at the ship's engines, to stop and neutralize it.
The simultaneous perception of three means is evidence of the steadfast professionalism, accuracy and dedication of our crew”, said Commander Nolan Cuevas, commander of the ship Tahoma.
The operation was also welcomed by the US South Command (SOUTHCOM). /Periscopi/
