Trump: Iran cancels execution of 8 women

United States President Donald Trump announced that Iran will not proceed with the execution of eight female protesters, naming development a very good <x0 news”. In a post on the Turkish Social platform, Trump said four of the women would be released immediately, while four more would face [...]

In a post on the Turkish Social platform, Trump said four of the women would be released immediately, while four more would face a month-long prison sentence. He added that he praised the fact that Iranian authorities, according to him, had taken into account his request for annulment of the execution.

The announcement came just hours after Trump decided to extend the truce with Iran, pending Tehran's response to an American proposal to end the nearly two-month-long conflict.

However, Iranian authorities immediately rejected this version. The Iranian Judiciary flatly denied that women were in danger of execution, claiming that US President “has again been deceived by false news” and that some of them have been released, while others face charges that do not anticipate the death penalty.

Despite official denials, human rights organisations have reported that at least one of the women, Bita Hemmmati, was sentenced to death for participating in protests and clashes with security forces during the January 2026 riots.

According to reports, she and several others were accused of organising protests, throwing objects at rule forces and damaging public property. Its case is documented by international organisations monitoring the human rights situation in Iran.

Meanwhile, according to Norwegian headquarters organisations, two of the women -- Golanaz Naragi and Venus Hossainjad -- have been released on bail since late March.

The eight women's cases were made public by Iranian activist Masih Alinejad, who published their names and photos, raising international concerns about their fate.

The situation remains unclear amid conflicting statements, while tensions between the US and Iran continue to be high.
