Melza Haradinaj, adviser to former President Vjosa Osmani, has reacted strongly to the impasse on the part of the Vetvendosje Movement's deputies of the Kosovo membership agreement at “Peace Board”, this initiative undertaken by US President Donald Trump.
Haradinaj, through a status on Facebook, said what happened last week, and what was seen today at the Foreign Affairs Commission, according to her, makes one thing clear: in foreign policy, decision-making by people indicted in institutional positions poses a direct threat to the state and long-term interests.
The past “Week was neither misunderstanding nor gaffe, but a deep lack of knowledge of basic documents. Vetevendosje experts insisted on changing Article 2 of the Kosovo Membership Bill on the Peace Board and determining the same board of areas where it will commit to resolving conflicts in the world. For this they even founded the Workgroup, where they surprisingly agreed to be another former Foreign Minister”, she said.
Haradinaj added that the Peace Board functions on a Charter already adopted by the founding states, led by the United States.
It is not interpreted according to local political will and is not rewritten on parliamentary commissions; it is accepted or refused. Any attempt to intervene in the organisation's scope outside the founding act (Folder), which makes up the legal and normative basis and determines its mandate, is simply the indictee. How could some PJ Commission deputies not know about this?”, Haradinaj said.
Former President Osmani's adviser added that after all the insistence, the <x0*ex1> today withdrew and passed the bill sent by the president since 12 February, without a change.
“But political damage remains complete. Enemy neighbours immediately read it as a signal of U.S. departure and used it against Kosovo”.
So when decision-making in foreign policy is entrusted to people with no professional competence and no knowledge of global order, the danger automatically becomes state, immediate, and costly for the future of the country. I hope that at the next session in the country, all Albanian parties and collaborative minorities will ratify the Kosovo Bill for membership on the Peace Board with the unanimous vote”, Melza Haradinaj, who was once the country's top diplomat, added to this post.
Ratification of the Peace Board Membership Bill, she says, is a double-weight act: it reaffirms Kosovo as an active subject of international law, and also clearly confirms strategic alignment with the United States.
Any hesitation in this process is read as geopolitical uncertainty, while unanimous voting is a clear message of state unity and of Kosovo's strong position in international order. I hope this situation serves as a professional and state teaching for all involved”, former President Vjosa Osmani's adviser said.
The Commission for Foreign Affairs and Diaspore has approved on Wednesday the draft bill for ratification of the Kosovo membership agreement on the Peace Board. After the vote unanimously, this agreement for approval in the Assembly opened until it was said the same would be adopted before April 28th, when the president's election deadline expires and the risk for new elections.
