According to professional estimates, the continuation of the operation under these conditions could cause greater damage, so the controlled ban is seen as a precautionary measure to preserve the entity's integrity and avoid serious defects. All relevant institutions have been announced in advance of this development, KEK shows.
Currently, KEK operates with three generation units: B2 in TC Kosova B and A3 and A4 in TC Kosova A, which according to the announcement provides sustainable energy supplies in line with available capacities.

KEK: A4 unit control ban and investment in energy sector future
The Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) reports that the A4 unit in TC Kosova A is expected to stop by tonight around 00:00, following the presentation of problems in the condensator.
After professional assessments, it has been found that continuing surgery in these conditions could cause greater damage.
For this reason, the ban is a necessary precautionary measure, with the aim of maintaining the integrity of the entity and avoiding serious defects.
All relevant institutions have been announced in time for this development.
Currently, KEK is operating with three generation units: B2 in TC Kosova B, as well as A3 and A4 in TC Kosova A, ensuring the continuation of production according to available capacities.
At the same time, KEK recalls it is in an important phase of transformation, with investments of over 500m euros for modernisation and extension of the life of the largest generation units since the start of the thermal operation.
Within these investments:
• Unit B1 is under way modernisation (Turkish and electrofilra);
• A5 unit is located in capital remont;
• Such interventions require temporary bans on certain occasions as part of a necessary process for long - term improvement.
