This is the fifth case since late January of this year, the Directorate of Prisons reports the loss of the lives of inmates, linked mainly to health problems.
Just two days ago, on April 3, another detainee, Medat Spahiu, lost his life in the same department as a pulmonary emboly.
Earlier, on March 20th, a 41-year-old man arrested for a slight criminal offence passed away in Tirana's Security Block. Authorities said they are suspected of natural causes, but investigations follow.
Meanwhile, the first case in this series dates back to January 25th, when a 20-year-old youth lost his life in the Shkodra prison.
So far, authorities have not provided a complete response to link all these cases, but investigations into each of them are under way.

At around 2:10 p.m., the detainee Medat Spahiu has passed away at the Central Reaniment at QSUT, as a result of a pulmonary dexter embolia.
About 9:40 p.m., he was accompanied by emergency at the sites of the Regional Court Hospital, sentenced to life in prison, Hysni Qamil Repaj, 1501,1962, born and resident of Shkodra. During examination procedures at this hospital, the state of health and convicts deteriorated, ending in respiratory cardiac arrest. Despite the intervention and medical assistance given, he failed to return to life, resulting in a loss of life.
