Guglielmi did not make public the name of the officer or the hospital he was sent to, but said the ballistic vest the agent wore “helped us avoid a possible tragedy”.
Earlier in the evening, President Donald Trump said he spoke to the officer, telling reporters at the White House: “He is in very good mood, and we told him that we love and respect him. And he's a very proud man. He's very proud of what he does”.
CNN reported earlier that a USSS officer was shot at at dinner and the bullet hit the officer's defense device.
