Rexhep Qosja, who died today at the age of 90, was one of the most important personalities of Albanian literature, literary criticism and intellectual thought. Born in 1936 in Vuthay, Montenegro, I began primary education in his home country and continued in Guci. In 1959 he completed the Normal School in Pristina, and a year later he enrolled in the Albanian Language and Literature Branch at the Pristina Faculty of Philosophy, where he graduated in 1964. His academic path continued with engagement at the Albanological Institute in Pristina, where it was accepted as assistant in 1967 and then established at the highest scientific levels.
During 1967,1968 specialized in the science of literature at the University of Belgrade, while in 1971 she defended the doctorate on the life and work of poet Asdren. After that, he became a senior associate and scientific adviser at the Albanological Institute, as well as professor at the Pristina Faculty of Philosophy. From 1972 to 1981, he conducted the Albanological Institute, making an important contribution to the development of albanological studies.
Qosja was the author of over 30 books involving literary, critical, novel, stories, dramas, and publicists. Among his best-known works are “Death comes to me from such eyes”, “Culture Anatomy” and the novel “The sons of no man”, for which it was awarded the “Pjetre Bogdani” in 2010. His works have been translated into several languages and have been the subject of study in academic circles.
For his precious contribution, he was honoured at many awards, including the “Nder of the Nation” from the Republic of Albania in 2000. Besides scientific and literary activity, he was also committed to Kosovo's political life, leading a party in 19982000.
Biography
Born in 1936 in Vuthay, Montenegro. The first four classrooms of the ferns were performed in Vuthaj, and half armament in Guci. In 1959, he finished the Normal School in Pristina, while in 1960 he enrolled in the branch of the Albanian Office and Literature of the Pristina Philosophical Faʹcult, where he graduated in 1964. In 1967 the assistant was accepted at the Albanology Institute in Pristina, and during 1967/68 specialised literature science in third degree studies at the Belgrade Faculty of Philological University. In 1969, he was elected a scientific associate of the Pristina Albanological Institute. In 1971 he defended the doctor's thesis on Asdren's life and creativity. After his doctors, in 1972, he was elected, once a senior associate, and then a scientific adviser at the Alʹbanological Institute, as well as inordinar professor and ordinarian professor at Pristina Faculty of Philosophy. He was director of the Albanological Institute from 1972 to 1981, chief of the Albanian branch of Literature and Language, and during 1974-1975, editor - in - law of the literary magazine New Life.
He is the author of over 30 books with studies of literature and literary criticism, artistic prose, stories, novels and dramas, publicists and controversial writings. He has published many reviews, looks, articles, trials, treatments, and studies in scientific and literary magazines, discussing specific issues of Albanian literature and literary creativity in general. Some of his works and works have been translated into other languages.
Science and literary creativity has been valued with: The destruction of the city of Pristina in 1968; the December 2003 District Reward in 1969; the two awards of the SSH of Kosovo, in 1972 and 1974; and Serbia's RS rewards “7 July” in 1975, at the “Pierre Bogdani”, 2010 for anyone's “Bate, etc. It has also taken on political activities; in 1998-2000, it led a political party in Kosovo. In 2000, the head of the Republic of Albania awarded the “Nder of the Nation”.
