With these decisions, the defendants had continued the detention measure for two months, due to suspicion of committing war crimes against the civilian population.
The Supreme Court, according to the report issued to the media, has estimated that there is a legal basis for continuing detention, due to the risk of fleeing indictees, taking into account the circumstances of the case, including the fact that the defendant has changed several residential addresses, has permanent residences outside Kosovo and has two citizenships, which could facilitate avoid prosecution, especially given the lack of judicial co-operation between Kosovo and the other country.
The Supreme Court also finds no claims to violate the European Convention for Human Rights and the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, since the detention has been appointed with the decision of the competent court and in accordance with legal provisions, while the criminal procedure is still in the initial phase of”, it is said in the communiqué to the media. /Periscope/
