United Emirates condemn Iranian attack on two tankers in Hormuz Strait

The United Arab Emirates have accused Iran of attacking two oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, where one crew member lost his life and eight others were injured.
The event occurred at a time when tensions between Iran and the United States continue to escalate. US President Donald Trump announced that the US will impose a 20% fee as part of a new blockade on this strategic maritime route, claiming Washington is hitting Iran “very hard”. Meanwhile, military attacks between the parties have entered the third night in a row, writes BBC.
Iran's Foreign Minister reacted to Trump's statement, stressing that Tehran will remain “ROYTARI” of the Strait of Hormuz using the same term that the American president had used.
The impact on this sea route - one of the most important for global oil trade - threatens to undermine any attempts to end conflict. Trump, however, said an agreement between the parties remains possible.
According to the United Arab Emirates Defence Ministry, Iranian floating missiles hit two of the country's tankers on Monday evening. As a result of the attack, a sailor with Indian citizenship lost his life and eight people were injured, four of them in serious condition.
Authorities announced that six of the wounded are Indian citizens, while two are Ukrainians.
The defence ministry condemns this attack, which constitutes a serious violation and a clear violation of international law, jeopardising the security and stability of the region”, the statement published on the X platform said.
On the other hand, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) later confirmed the attack through a statement published on the telegram. According to them, the two tankers had ignored warnings, turned off navigation systems, and tried to cross a mined naval corridor. /Periscopi/
