US President Donald Trump said the new leaders of Iran “wanted to speak” and that he has agreed to negotiations.
Trump told The Atlantic journalist, while American and Israeli attacks on Iran are continuing, reports The Atlantic.
They want to talk and I agreed to talk, so I'll talk to them. They should have done it earlier. They should have agreed to something very practical and simple earlier. They waited a long time for”, Trump said.
Asked by journalist Michael Scherer when the talks would be held, the president refused to give a specific answer. I can't tell you this”, he said.
Trump also did not reveal what Iranian leaders were talking to his administration, noting that some of the former co-ordinators had been killed.
Most of those people are gone. Some of the people we were negotiating with have disappeared, because this was a big hit”, he said. “They should have done it earlier, Michael. They could have made a deal. They should have done it earlier. They were playing very clever”.
This statement comes shortly after Trump told another journalist that 48 Iranian leaders were killed in US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
