SPAK publishes the annual report: Over 45m euros and blocked crypto notes

According to the report, the Special Prosecutor took concrete measures during 2025 to increase the prosecutor's active role, improve the quality of investigations, and strengthen criminal prosecution for more criminal acts of order and public security.

With regard to money laundering, during 2025 the total value of sequencing assets and seized by SPAK was about 45.4m euros, including cryptovaluts. Financial investigations have significantly improved the identification of money laundering networks and their international ties.

In terms of increased investigation initiated mainly, out of 294 new criminal proceedings registered for 2025, 109 proceedings are largely recorded. This provided represents about 37% of the total new proceedings for 2025. This value for 2024 was in the measure of 19.8% (65 investigations initiated mainly in 328 new criminal proceedings registered for 2025). This indicator reflects an added commitment not only to references to other institutions but to exercise a proactive role in identifying and prosecuting criminal acts.

As far as the fight against corruption, particularly at high levels, during 2025, were investigated by the SPAK (contained and newly registered procedures) 27 criminal proceedings with 30 persons under investigation/controvers, who are officials and former high-level officials. Investigations into these issues have been conducted by following professional standards and aiming to send leads to cases based on full and solid evidence.

As far as financial investigations are concerned, the Special Prosecutor has consolidated the practice of conducting financial investigation along with conducting criminal investigation.
