Poisons in Kosovo, CKUK: 31 hospitalized patients, 11 of the Salmonella bacteria

The Infectious Clinic of the Kosovo University Clinical Centre has announced public opinion that it is currently dealing with a situation of suspected food poisoning, where 31 patients have so far been hospitalised.
During the dates 13, 14 and 15 July, according to the announcement, emergency medical assistance at this clinic has asked for about 30 people. After detailed laboratory tests, 11 cases have proved positive with the Salmonella Enteritistis bacteria. The health team confirms that all patients laid down are receiving adequate treatment and their situation is moving towards improvement, Periscopi broadcasts.
“Within these cases, five patients from Elez's Khan municipality have been admitted to similar symptoms during this three-day period. According to the patient's own statements, the number of people who have consumed food at the same location and who are allegedly poisoned is greater. The medical staff is conducting necessary examinations and is constantly monitoring their situation, while working intensively to identify the precise source of infection”, the report says.
Important recommendations for citizens:
Avoid quick foods: It is recommended to avoid consumption of products called “fast food”, especially during these high-frequency days, since heat favours rapid reproduction of bacteria.
Seek medical attention immediately: If after consuming food you experience symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, high fever, or severe stomach pain, go to the nearest medical center.
The Infectious Clinic will continue to keep the public informed transparently of any new development once data is confirmed by responsible epidemiological authorities.
