Defence Minister Guido Cronetto has been in constant contact with top military commanders over the incident, the ministry added, Telegrafi reports, broadcast. Periscope.
Foreign Minister Antonio Tayan said in a special message to X that Italian military personnel had been sheltered in a bunker and all were “well-being and safe”.
Italy has about 300 troops in Erbil, who work in training Kurdish security forces, the defence ministry said on its website. /Periscope/
