Risk of price hikes in Kosovo: What will the Government do?

Kosovo's market is very exposed to price change or situations like those in Iran, says Minister of Industry, Trade, Trade and Innovation Mimoza Kusari ão, therefore establishing the profit margin for oil products, according to her, has prevented price manipulation. At the radio station Free Europe, the minister [...]
At Radio Free Europe's poster, the minister also indicated why they changed prices to some gas stations even after making that decision.
There is a price difference because the margin is set on the import price and it is not fixed, so to speak, the price is static”.
According to her, the price of oil and other derivatives at gas stations vary depending on what the price of import is like, but this change of prices for consumers cannot be higher than 12 cents per litre for retail buyers and 2 cents per litre for consumers in abundance.
As far as oil products are concerned, she stressed that Kosovo stands in the same situation as it was before the United States and Israel launch attacks in Iran and there is no need for panic by citizens.
Regarding the possibility of increasing food products prices, Kusari-Lila said the situation is manageable while working on the Law for setting ceiling prices on essential products.
It says this law is the first and most necessary <x0 measures to protect citizens who are at minimum wage or parts of social schemes”.
Products to which the ceiling price can be set are flour, milk, oil, eggs, food for other children.
However, the minister stresses that there will remain to be seen whether there will be functional assembly to adopt this law.
If the law on ceiling prices remains unannounced, Kusari-Lila said the market inspectorate will continue monitoring prices if there are abuses from traders, and that Government will work to support local production not to reflect price increases from abroad. /Periscope
