Osman assigned December 28th for election, Kurti: It has not been possible to hold on December 21st.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said he had conviction that only December 28th was the date that would have to be held the interim parliamentary elections, for which the date President Vjosa Osmani had chosen but requested it, reports EO, broadcast Periscopi. The last “elections were held on December 28, for my powerful conviction [...]
The last “elections were held on December 28th, for my strong conviction the elections have not been possible to hold on December 21st because there is also paperwork from the CEC Secretariat, where it is said that there is no possibility of organising elections on December 21st to meet the necessary time deadlines related to technical and logistical challenges. Do not forget that we had two rounds of local elections in October and entered the process of early parliamentary elections even without the certificate of local elections being made. Hence, there was no alternative for the date but December 28. If anyone thought it was possible to organise elections on January 4th, it was possible because of the budgetary aspect”, he said.
For Osmani's statements to him, he said he does not want to repeat from last week's conference, despite that he stressed that elections are unnecessary.
I have no intention of adding from the media conference that was a week ago. I don't think it's necessary to repeat myself. The president of the Republic is the head of state, I am the prime minister of the country and I believe we have a case that is already in the Constitutional Court, while the emphasis should be placed on the fact that we had four choices last year and I am convinced we should not repeat it in 2025. 2026 is the new year, it's neither fair nor beneficial to have repeated elections. Therefore, it is imperative that we have agreements with opposition parties for electing the president. Citizens of the Republic expect us to have institutional stability and not repeat elections, so there is no need for repeated elections; there needs to be an act of the Constitutional Court as soon as possible and the Assembly starts working”, Kurti said.
That elections are unnecessary, Kurti also refers to international agreements, even if new elections are scheduled, they will cost the state at least 10 billion euros.
The “Since over 120m euros of different international agreements have been delayed because the Republic Assembly is not working, and on the other hand new elections will cost at least 10m euros. It's not about who has the hardy majority. The LVV has won 51.1 per cent, and the question is to cure 81 deputies, and I don't believe we need new elections to have a competition of reaching 80 deputies. It is imperative that as soon as the Parliament functions and we do not go with unnecessary new elections”, Kurti said.
