The gross Brent oil rose by almost 9%, reaching $100 (74.79 dollars) for barrels in Asia trade, even after all 32 members of the International Energy Agency (IEA) said it would release 400 million barrels in response to supply concerns, the BBC reports.
On Wednesday, Iran warned that oil could reach $200 per barrel, while its attacks on ships intensify in the Strait of Hormuz, a key water route for power shipments.
A spokesman for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said any ships linked to the US, Israel or their allies would be targeted.
