Obadiah: We respect the Constitutional Court's decision; it has brought no advantage

LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku has said the Constitutional Court's decision has brought needed clarity at an important institutional moment for the country. This decision creates no superiority for anyone. He returns the process to the Republic Assembly and gives MPs even a deadline to meet the obligation to elect the president. At this stage, as we have constantly stressed, the main responsibility lies with the parliamentary majority. It has had the time and opportunity to complete this process, and it is up to it to offer solutions. As already clear, without majority votes, this process cannot be completed”, Abdixhiku said.
The Democratic League of Kosovo, according to him, believes such issues are not resolved by implantation, but by political agreement between representative forces.
“The president of the Republic must be a unifying figure, reflecting unity, guarantees institutional balance and is not the extension of the majority”, Abdixhiku said.
Obadiah told me that in this spirit, The LDK remains ready to contribute to any serious efforts for solutions, guaranteeing stability and normal functioning of institutions. At the same time, however, no one's failures will become the alibi.
At the same time, the LDK considers that the actions of the President of the Republic, including its decree, have been in the function of preserving constitutional order and avoiding an institutional vacuum, in an unclear judicial situation.
The Constitutional Court's verdict, in addition to not proving any constitutional violations, provides the final interpretation of this issue, which should be respected by all. The Republic has its own rules. And they require responsibility, discretion and decision-making in line with general interest. In the event of a lack of a political agreement for the next 34 days, the Democratic League of Kosovo will enter together and prepared in any new election process, with confidence to offer new solutions to the country”, Obadiah has said.
