Two weeks after the government's formation, February extensions have come to value 325 euros, though monthly payments worth the minimum wage have been promised in Vetevendosje's governing programme.
Fulfilling this pledge, which in the first week after receiving the mandate, had promised Prime Minister Albin Kurti in the Assembly before the government cabinet was voted in October.
So far, when the budget for 2026 has been approved, the Government has not made the decision to increase these additions.
At the Ministry of Labour, Families and Values of the Liberation War have said that the increase will be done with Government decision, but that they have not indicated when it will happen.
The “related to the question posed about the height and amount of the surplus benefits for the lexO for the minimum wage value of 425.00 euros, we report to you that any increase in the additions to the lehoma or other benefits will be regulated by Government and Ministry's decision, under which decisions will be determined the implementation approach of the Ministry for Labour, Family and Liberation War Values.
Lehona Mirjeta Hoxha has complained that the government's promise to raise this fee has not been materialized as much as the minimum wage.
I received my first payment in February, which was 325 euros rather than 425 euros. The extensions will take another two months. After it was a promise, I expect that if the decision to raise them to 425 euros, it will be worth retroactive even for February”, Hoxha has said.
KOHA has asked the minister whether the decision will have a retroactive effect, but has not been answered.
Economist Fidan Qerimi says additions should not be cut off from minimum wages, as according to him, constitute greater security for women who want to raise children in an inflationary period. Besides, he says they also have a positive demographic effect.
It's an encouragement to fertility, maybe not to the desired effect, but it's a positive step for my opinion, and it would have to continue to implement this minimum wage for letons”, Qarim said.
The additions to the lecho have had demographic effects, though not too high.
According to the Kosovo Statistics Agency, compared to September 2021 when this decision was made by 2024, the number of births has increased for about two thousand children annually.
At the same time, in 2025 it dropped by 40,000 births, compared to 2024, when over 31 thousand were registered.
