The LDK warned elections, PDK collects the chairmanship what happened after the release of the Constitutional Court's decision on the presidential decree.

The Constitutional Court has declared President Vjosa Osmani's 6 March decree to be invalid for the distribution of the Kosovo Assembly. Under the court ruling, MPs have 34 days to elect the new president, otherwise the Assembly will be automatically distributed and early elections organised within 45 days.

The chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, has declared that the Constitutional Court's decision has brought needed clarity at a significant institutional moment for the country.

Abdixhiku stressed that the LDK fully respects this decision and considers it a guide for further political actions.

According to him, the decision creates no advantage for any party, but returns the process to the Assembly and gives MPs an additional deadline for electing the president.

He underlined that the primary responsibility in this phase falls on the parliamentary majority, which, according to him, has had the time and opportunity to complete the process. “Without majority votes, this process cannot be completed,” said Abdixhiku.

The head of the LDK added that such issues should be resolved through political agreements, rather than emponding, stressing that the president must be a unifying figure that guarantees unity and institutional balance.

He made it known that the LDK remains ready to contribute to any serious efforts for solutions, but will not serve as no one's “alib failure”.

In this spirit, The LDK remains ready to contribute to any serious efforts for solutions, guaranteeing stability and normal functioning of institutions. But, at the same time, no one's alibi for the failures of” wrote Obadiah.

At the same time, Abdixhiku praised that Vjosa Osmani's actions have been in the function of preserving constitutional order and avoiding an institutional vacuum, adding that the indictment has not ruled constitutional violations.

“at the same time, the LDK considers that the actions of the President of the Republic, including its decree, have been in the function of preserving constitutional order and avoiding an institutional vacuum, in a vague judicial situation. The Constitutional Court's Act except that it does not state any constitutional violations, provides the final interpretation of this issue, which should be respected by all”, the LDK head said.

He warned that if no political agreement is reached within 34 days, the LDK will enter and prepare for a new election process, with the aim of offering solutions to the country.

And Democratic Party of Kosovo Secretary General Vlora Citaku has declared that the PDK respects today's Constitutional Court decision.

“We respect the Constitutional Court's decision as the key institution of democratic order, as we have always acted”, Citaku has said briefly, indicating that the PDK will gather its leading bodies tomorrow to discuss new developments and future steps.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo, following the Constitutional Court's decision, has called for the day at 2: 00 a.m., the joint meeting of the Headship and the Parliamentary Group.

At the March 5th session, the ruling party presented two candidates for president: Glauk Konjufka and Fatmire Kolcaku-Mruka, as preliminary talks between Kurti and the two main opposition parties -- the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo -- for an acceptable name -- had not bore fruit.

The session was interrupted in lack of quorum, after being abandoned by opposition parties.

A day after the break of the session on March 5th, Osman issued the decree on the distribution of the Parliament and held a meeting of political parties immediately to talk about the date of early elections.

Following the Constitutional Court's decision that nullified President Vjosa Osmani's decree on the distribution of the Parliament and gave 34 days to MPs to elect the new president, leaders and members of the Vetevendosje Movement have reacted immediately to social networks.

LVV Parliamentary Group chief Arberie Nagavci stressed the importance of responsibility and reflection.

“Actions in institutional positions must be carried out with high responsibility and without personal resentment. This moment should serve the commitment of the people's elected, so that the country does not enter a new crisis and in a repeat cycle of elections”, she said.

Nagavci said that during the following days, we must all engage in electing the president and avoiding even a pair of choices that are unnecessary and unfair.

The response was also made by Finance Minister Iron Murati, who stressed respect for the election outcome.

The country should not go to the polls unless opposition parties are not enjoying the result the people have given them. The decree was in violation of the Constitution!”, he said.

And Egnese Vitita, adviser to President Vjosa Osmani, has reacted immediately after publishing the Constitutional Court's act on the president's case and Osman's decree to distribute the Kosovo Assembly.

Vitita stressed that the president's election should be realised no later than 30 days before the end of the president's current mandate.

So as the President has said, the election of the president should take place no later than thirty days before the end of the current president's term. That deadline, is defined in paragraph 2 of Article 86 of the Kosovo Constitution”, it has written.

This stance comes after the Constitutional Court's ruling, which nullified the decree on the distribution of the Parliament, and stressed that MPs have 34 days in terms of electing the new president. /Periscope
