After yesterday's meeting with PDK chairman Bedri Hamza, Kurti said at a party meeting today that if a unifying figure is not found, then each subject will compete with its candidate.
After the second meeting I had with Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Bedri Hamza, I was unveiled by a position of headship, that they already consider that the president from next week should come from the PDK. In view of this attitude, I think that the candidate can come from any subject... But in the end, the election for president does not guarantee party belonging, but the vote in the Assembly”, Kurti said.
If we fail to find a unifying figure that ensures the support of at least 80 deputies, then one of the remaining options is for each subject to propose its own party candidate and all to submit to the race within the Coalition”, he added.
This, Kurti said “also envisions Constitution”.
He indicated he will meet with LDK chairman Lumir Abdixhiku tomorrow to discuss the matter.
The chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, will also meet tomorrow, where we will discuss the process. However, we have the attitude that if subjects agree that this is the journey, so the open race where each subject has a candidate or candidate for president, then we agree with that approach and the Vetevendosje Movement will have its candidate for President”, Kurti said.
