The Council for Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms (KMDLNJ) has reacted sharply to the Government of Kosovo, accusing it of neglecting pensioners and the most sensitive categories of society.
In his reaction, KMDLNJ estimates that the executive is sharing budgetary means for different categories, while, according to them, pensioners, beneficiaries of social schemes, war veterans and disabled are facing serious difficulties for survival.
According to the KMDLNJ, rising prices and the cost of living is in large quantities at the financial opportunities of most families in Kosovo. The organisation says that despite continued price hikes, pensions over the past six years have increased only 20 percent, or an average of about 3.25 percent a year.
KMDLNJ has also criticised the decision to split the 13th fee for civil servants and financial support of 500 thousand euros for Kosovo National football players, saying these measures have not affected society's most endangered levels.
With these pensions one can't afford a dignified death, and let alone a dignified” life, the KMDLNJ's response says.
Also, this organisation has raised concerns about the issue of electricity tariffs, claiming that Kosovo citizens have been seriously damaged over the years by billing policies and rising energy prices.
KMDLNJ estimates that the government has failed to protect human rights for society's most vulnerable and contributing groups, denying, according to them, a dignified life through pensions and reasonable payments.
In the end, KMDLNJ points out that pensions and social schemes have increased several times in countries in the region, while in Kosovo, according to them, there have been only real improvisements and manipulations for citizens in need.
Today, the Kosovo government has shared the 13th salary for public sector employees in the country.
