A day after Iran-backed Hezbollah launched its largest round of conflict rockets, Israel's defence minister said the army had orders to expand the campaign, and Israel's military chief said the operation in Lebanon would not be short, Reuters writes.
Israel has bombed south and eastern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut controlled by Hezbollah, killing nearly 700 people, according to Lebanese authorities. Israel has also ordered massive evacuations in the same areas, causing more than 800,000 people to flee their homes.
