German Ambassador: Law enforcement throughout Kosovo without obstructing citizens' lives, key to dialogue and road to EU

German Ambassador Rainer Rudolph said that the international community, in co-operation with the Government of Kosovo, has been actively engaged in preparing the law on foreigners and vehicles.
“What we are now discussing is how to implement this agreement throughout Kosovo”, the German diplomat told RTK2.
He particularly stressed that the agreement was reached with the support of the European Union and includes important guarantees for citizens.
“There should be no disruptions of services in health and education”.
According to him, the international community is closely co-operating with institutions to ensure that the law is implemented in a way that does not prevent the daily lives of citizens.
There is no doubt that Kosovo laws should be implemented throughout the territory. However, this must be done so that the daily life of citizens” is not hindered.
Dialogue as the Basis for Stability
Speaking of the broader context, the ambassador stressed the importance of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
“Dialogue aims to resolve issues from past conflicts. It is essential for progress towards membership in the European Union”.
He added that progress in implementing the agreements is directly linked to the quality of citizens' lives.
It's important that citizens feel improvements in daily life”.
As a concrete example, he cited conversations with representatives of the Serbian community on implementing the Foreign and Automotive Law:

He encouraged me when they said that they would invite citizens to cooperate with law enforcement institutions. We are looking at this now in practice”, the German ambassador told RTK2.
Community Rights and Security
The ambassador underlined that the legal framework in Kosovo provides strong protection for minority rights, but that the way they are implemented is key.
It's important that this defense feels in everyday life. All citizens should feel secure, regardless of ethnic affiliation”.
German Support and European Prospects
Speaking of Kosovo-German relations, Ambassador Rainer Rudolf praised them as excellent “”, with a clear strategic goal.
Our goal is to draw Kosovo into the European Union and see it finally as a member. ”
He stressed that Germany supports development in different sectors, from energy to transport, as well as the work of institutions, including police and justice system.
