The announcement says that this unique dessert is not simply a recipe but a living legacy that thelbasan homes have preserved and passed on for centuries.
“From generation to generation, preparation of the balloon has remained a special family ritual, closely linked to the city's memory, identity and traditions. Intrepid from Summer Day, the ballacum symbolizes the celebration, joy, and coming of spring. Each year, on this particular day, the elbasan tables are filled with this traditional dessert, restoring to life an early custom that remains strong today”, says the report.
In addition to the announcement, its proclamation as non-material cultural heritage confirms the importance that the Colackuka has in Albanian culture and in particular on the identity of Elbasan, turning it into a living symbol of tradition that follows to live among generations.
