Kosovo and Turkey will face a decisive duel, considered among the most important in recent years, in the final of “play-off” for a country at the 2026 World Cup.
The match will be played at the “Fadil Vokri” stadium in Pristina at 20:45, where an electrifying atmosphere with strong support from local fans for “Dardians” is expected.
For Kosovo, this confrontation presents a golden chance to write stories and secure the first qualifications at a World Champions.
A few hours before the crucial match, Kosovo Football Federation President Agim Ademi has spoken in an interview for Top Channel Albania, stressing the tremendous importance of this confrontation for Kosovo football and the country in general.
He described this as one of the most important days for football in the country, linking it to historical moments of accession to international organisations.
“For football is the most important day after U accession EFA and FIFA, and normally for Kosovo in general, because getting here is a success. But anyway, you see for yourself what football has and this day”, the president of the NFF said first.
Ademi also expressed gratitude for all those who have contributed for years to football development, particularly assessing the work of football players and technical staff.
I'm very happy that we got here and I thank all those who worked in front of me for football, as well as everyone else, especially during this period, especially footballers, who along with the technical staff have done a great job”.
Next, he stressed the importance of commitment and sacrifice in sports, also underlining the role of the younger generation in achievements so far.
I wish we could still take this step, because it's usually a success. In sports it's a real job, it's a matter of sweat and great sacrifice, and the nobility of the people. We also have extremely good youth and they know the importance of each match, which, in addition to their reaching up to another level, all football players and reaching the top, of course, this part with the national and the state is special to them too.”
In the end, Ademi highlighted the diaspora's great contribution and family role in preserving the patriotic feeling of younger generations.
And we've raised this love to the state through the sport, and of course there are diaspora athletes, who are in exile, and I'll always say that this is a credit to their parents, who love Kosovo with their heart, because they've left Kosovo for different forms. But I am very happy that their children have raised them in patriotic spirit, and these boys are making Kosovo proud”.
Speaking to the opponent and nature of the qualifying matches, he stressed that maximum devotion will be crucial to the end.
There are strong individuals, but these qualifying matches don't know how they go and not always win the best. So commitment is to the end. Our players have the right mind and know their work on how they will act today, know the importance of the match, and certainly want to touch the World, because it's for Kosovo and Kosovo it needs this”, concluded Kosovo Football Federation President Agim Ademi. /Periscope
