CECZ: Excavations at Rahovec contain mortore remains, but the exact number of individuals is unknown

In the public announcement, this commission said that on Thursday, March 4, 2026, “, bone fragments have been encountered, which have been exhumed and sent to the Institute of Legal Medicine”.
Also, during the works held yesterday, the commission said that the findings of mortore remains, which, according to the initial assessment, belong to at least one individual.
“However, the exact number of individuals and their identity will be confirmed after completing their forensic examinations and related analysis, including DNA identification”, the CECH has said.
Excavations, the commission said, will continue in the coming days, until the overall assessment of the targeted location, respectively.
The CEC said that the process is under way in inter-institute co-ordination between the Government Commission for Missing Persons, the Police Directorate for Investigation of War Crimes, the Missing Persons Sector, the Institute of Legal Medicine, as well as the justice organs, with full institutional devotion, with the aim of lighting up the fate and whereabouts of people who were forcibly missing during the war in Kosovo.
