The trial against former KLA leaders, Ving: This institutionalized injustice reopens historical wounds

Responding to demands for maximum sentences for former KLA leaders, Defence Minister Pirro Ving said public revolt stems from the need for international justice to be legitimate and historically responsible.

He stressed that detention of over five years and the nature of the charges are being used to overturn the gap between the aggressor and the victim, while documented crimes of the Serb oppressors against Kosovo Albanians remain unpunished, undermining confidence in justice institutions and the stability of the region.

“Revolta to demand maximum sentences for former KLA leaders Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi stem from the demand that justice be fair and historically responsible.

The detention of over five years and the nature of the charges have turned into an instrument to overturn the gap between the aggressor and victim, while the documented crimes of the Serb oppressors against Kosovo Albanians remain unpunished.

It is evident that the effort to equate our rescuers with Srebrenica genocides rests on charges fabricated with Russian influence over the Council of Europe.

This institutionalised injustice reopens historical wounds and undermines the belief of peoples in peace institutions. In this form, international courts are delegateing international law and the principle of self-determination of peoples.
